Above: Mr. Fleming presents senior Marie Slagle with a trophy as co-recipient of the award as "Outstanding Band Member" at the Spring 1966 WGH 50th Anniversary Concert. Junior Charles Hefling, playing 3rd chair, first clarinet, said of Marie: "She had a lot of technique, a very wide vibrato, and she scolded me for swaying."
Above: Mr. Fleming presents senior Jim Ognibene with a trophy as co-recipient of the award as "Outstanding Band Member" during the Spring 1966 WGH 50th Anniversary Concert. Jim went on to a professional career performing B-flat clarinet with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and became world renowned on bass clarinet with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York City.
