Please strongly consider sharing your precious memories with this extraordinary exhibit, before they are someday lost forever.
We are continuing to accept memorabilia donations.
Your name and graduation year will be displayed with the artifact as its donor in the public TCHS exhibit.
Our memories will forever be preserved at the Trumbull County Historical Society (TCHS), and some wonderful artifacts have arrived.
Among the collection:
WGH Panther bass drumhead
A complete black and white marching band uniform with hat and plume
Marching band 16mm halftime films from 1962-1969, including the 1964 ABC TV film with sound of the College All Star game halftime in Chicago, and halftime performances in Mollenkopf Stadium showing the band shell lit with its glowing "W."
Concert Band vynil albums and recordings
Letter Sweaters
A majorette "Friday" uniform
Signed photographs of Mr. Fleming
TCHS will preserve our collected artifacts for the exhibit as soon as the collection is complete!
Alumni have donated the First Band Night program, news articles, and personal photos.
If you have saved something, such as pro-football game programs, Band Night or banquet programs, photos, films, and newspaper articles, a uniform or hat, please share to the collection.
As memorabilia is donated, it is safely stored at the Medici Museum of Art in Howland, Ohio until the collection is complete. It will then be given to TCHS so they may begin preservation and design of the exhibit for public viewing.
Our goal is preservation: restoration, protection, and permanent safe storage of all artifacts. The committee is collecting all Fleming-era marching films and concert recordings, including filmed second Chicago pro-football 1967 half-time performance on Soldier Field!

The '13 Cents' Bet
Above: Perhaps becoming a convert because of their 1964 NFL championship season, Mr. Fleming was an ardent Browns fan. He absolutely hated it each time the Browns lost, and every season, he predicted, would be a championship year. My dad was an eternal Browns skeptic who set up a weekly 13 cent wager with Mr. Fleming on every Browns game. When the Browns lost, Mr. Fleming would send my dad a cute but regretful communication, money included, predicting great future success for his team. These are circa 1968.
Donated by Jim Brodell WGH '70
At left: I believe “Litkenhouse” was an old-time predictor of who would win sporting events. So, this was a Fleming “tip of the hat” to my dad for beating him again on a Browns’ point spread.
Above right: Note Mr. Fleming’s rhyme with his initials lower right corner.
